Open House at Pets with Disabilities

October 24th12:00-5:00 pm

THANK YOU to everyone that attended the Open House
and to those that sent donations, even though you couldn't come!!

It was wonderful to see all the adopted dogs again and reconnect with "PWD Family" - it was a successful day, but most importantly, it was a day to share the hope and hearts of the dogs needing PWD!!

Check out some of the memories of the day

Pets with Disabilities is excited to announce our rescue has been nominated as
the "Shelter of the Week"  and awarded a $1000 grant
PWD will be featured for a week in July on the SPCA International website   www.spca.com

SPCA International, through its Shelter of the Week Program, recognizes animal organizations for the outstanding work they do to save and protect all kinds of animals. As a national animal welfare organization this is a way for us to also applaud the staff and volunteers of these organizations who are on the front lines, devoting their time daily to ensure animals receive the help they deserve through lifesaving programs and services.

The Shelter of the Week Program is intended to help community based animal organizations who are working diligently to find solutions to the problems that affect animals. SPCA International recognizes how difficult a job this can be, therefore, we developed the Shelter of the Week Program to provide some much needed and deserved assistance in the form of a $1,000 grant that is given to specific organizations every other week. This money is to be used to expand existing programs and services or develop and implement new ones.

Meet Kyla Connors,
our new Pets with Disabilities volunteer coordinator.

Kyla is a long time friend of mine, that really wanted to help the dogs.  She is dedicated and determined to bring dogs around that need that little extra attention.  The dogs absolutely adore her and  they feel her positive energy and soon as she walks into the barn!   We are so lucky to have Kyla on our team.  She is not just a good dog person, she is also great with people.

Thanks Kyla!

The MISTY ANNEX is complete!!

In the "world" of rescue, an isolation area is critical to the safety of our current "guests" and provides the ability to help others that may be suffering from an injury or a contagious illness.

We are so excited about the opening of Pets with Disabilities isolation building. The Misty Annex!  It will allow the volunteers to spend some quality time with the sick or injured dogs, while keeping all the other dogs safe.

Thank you to everyone who donated to make this a reality....  please consider donating to the Misty Fund

Pets with Disabilities would like to thank the Dr Jane HealthyPetNet Foundation,  for awarding us a grant to help purchase the building and Hank Barry of HRB Builders www.hrb08builders.com  for donating his time and equipment in excavating the land.
