Foxie is a Golden Retriever/Spitz/Border Collie mix. She is 6 year's old, and 25 lbs.
Foxie was carried into the shelter along with her litter of cute puppies in 2021. The shelter did not notice Foxie's abnormal gait until after the person left. Her puppies were quickly adopted but due to Foxie’s unique gait which is medically termed Cerebellum Disorder, she was left behind. PWD was called and she was transported to us quickly!
Foxie arrived and we all just fell in love with her! She was so happy, bubbly and her wobbly gate makes her even cuter! She can do everything a 'normal dog" can do just with a little more flair and bounce! She is good with dogs, loves to play, loves toys, good with cats, good with children and great in the car!
Foxie was adopted in 2021 - but has recently found her way back to PWD. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Foxy has been returned to our rescue. Her adopter is currently facing serious health challenges, and after much consideration, it was decided that returning Foxy was in her best interest.
Upon her return, we noticed some bloating in her stomach, which led to an immediate visit to our internal medicine specialist. Unfortunately, Foxy has been diagnosed with protein-losing kidney disease. She will require ongoing medication to slow the progression of the disease.
Despite her diagnosis, Foxy is still eating well, remains alert, and is acting like her usual self. While her prognosis is guarded, we remain hopeful that with the right care and treatment, we can keep her happy and healthy for as long as possible—days, months, and hopefully even years to come. She is welcome with open arms as we treat a genetic, potentially terminal kidney disease. She will receive the best care and needs several Heart Connections!!
